What We Look For
Investment Criteria
Not every AI company is a fit for Milestone. Here's what we look for in every investment.
Technical Founding Team
At least one technical co-founder with deep AI/ML expertise, ideally with research or engineering experience at leading AI labs or technology companies. We look for teams that have domain-specific insight that is genuinely difficult for well-funded competitors to replicate quickly.
Large Market Opportunity
A clear path to $1B+ in revenue in a market that is either large and being disrupted by AI, or a new market being created by AI capabilities. We are not interested in incremental improvements to existing products -- we want companies that will own a category.
Defensible Technology
A technology advantage that compounds over time -- whether through proprietary data, novel model architecture, network effects, or deep workflow integration. We avoid companies that are essentially API wrappers or thin applications on top of commodity models without meaningful differentiation.
Early Evidence
Some form of early validation: letters of intent, paid pilots, early revenue, research breakthroughs, or exceptional user engagement. We can invest pre-revenue but want to see evidence that the problem is real and the team can build a solution customers will pay for.
